Strongly opposing the brutal attack on two Meitei Pangal men in Moreh yesterday, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has called on the Central Government to stop protecting the Chin-Kuki narco terrorists and take appropriate actions against them.
The Committee also requested the Government to cancel the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact, update and implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC), and address the inefficiency of Central forces.
COCOMI, in a statement, expressed condemnation for the assault on the Meitei Pangal driver and his helper, both Muslims, who were blindfolded by ‘Chin Kuki narco terrorists.’
The Committee highlighted that these terrorists not only physically harmed the two Muslim men but also seized the truck they had brought for unloading construction materials for a police barrack at Moreh, along with their mobile phones. COCOMI described the incident as inhumane.
Stating that Chin-Kuki narco terrorists have been targeting the people of Manipur continuously, with Meitei Pangals being no exception, COCOMI emphasized that despite facing numerous attacks, Meitei Pangals endure the pain.
COCOMI asserted that even after 10 months of hostilities against innocent people, the Central Government continues to shield these Chin Kuki narco terrorists. They pointed out that the SoO agreement, signed between the Government and Kuki militant groups, expired on February 29, and the pact remains un-renewed, rendering it technically inoperative.
The brutal assault on two Muslim men in Moreh indicates that the Central Government is allowing Chin-Kuki narco terrorists to act with impunity, COCOMI argued, urging the Government to empower the Central forces to take decisive action against these terrorists.
