Two Meitei Pangals, who went to Moreh to drop off sand and stones for building an IRB barrack, got badly beaten up by some miscreants.

The IRB barrack construction near Moreh police station began before the Manipur crisis on May 3, 2023, but it couldn’t finish due to the crisis.

A truck, returning after delivering sand and stones from Imphal to the construction site, was stopped by suspected Kuki militants near Moreh College around 1 pm today.

The armed miscreants took the driver and helper to ICP road, thrashed them thoroughly, and then let them go.

The driver and helper are Md Ila, son of Singamayum Ibungo, and Md Imin, son of Nongyaimayum Sanaton. Both around 30 years old, they’re from Kairang Chingya Leikai.

After getting treated at Moreh hospital, the two were brought into Moreh police station. Even though Moreh has sand and stones for construction, Kukis have been refusing these materials to the State forces stationed there.
