Tamenglong authorities enacted the destruction of confiscated alcoholic beverages on Wednesday, as a precautionary measure in light of the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election and to uphold the Election Model Code of Conduct.
Speaking on the seizure of the beverages, L Simon, the head of the Tamenglong police office, revealed that the Tamenglong police, stationed at both the Tamenglong police station and the Kaimai outpost, successfully identified and confiscated 1,087 liters of Local DIC spirits and 213 bottles of imported liquor, totaling an estimated market value of approximately Rs 270,650.
The disposal of the confiscated beverages took place in the presence of various civil society organizations, including the women’s wing of the joint tribe council and the Excise Department of Tamenglong, as well as members of the media and the Tamenglong PS OC team, within the confines of the Tamenglong police station campus.
