In a coordinated effort between Kakching district police and 37 Assam Rifles, a significant cache of explosives was confiscated from Moltingcham village in Thoubal district. The operation, conducted on Sunday, saw the collaboration of law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety and security.
Under the leadership of OC of Kakching Commando Unit S Birla, a specialized team was deployed to Moltingcham village. The operation, supervised by Kakching District police SP Thokchom Vikramjit and directed by Additional SP (ops) Binoi Chongtham, commenced at 7 am local time.
The diligent efforts of the team yielded fruitful results, as they uncovered various weaponry and equipment during the combing operation. The seized items included four .36 Hand Grenades, two locally manufactured explosive pipe launchers, 12 bore cartridges, five 2-inch mortar smoke shells, two helmets, one baofeng radio handset, three bulletproof vests, and one leg anklet.
Following protocol, the recovered items were promptly handed over to the Sugnu police station. A case has been registered for further investigation into the incident.
