Political activist Sapamcha Kangleipal has announced the creation of a common kitchen to provide meals for residents of Thamnapokpi village, which has been severely impacted by ongoing violence in the region. The kitchen, set to begin operations the day after the announcement, will initially serve 100 individuals but will expand its capacity as needed to accommodate more villagers.

Thamnapokpi, located in a “Red Zone” area where access to basic supplies has become increasingly scarce due to clashes between local communities and militant groups, has faced disruptions from bombings and gunfire since Saturday night. The violence has compounded the difficulties of the village’s residents, particularly during the harvest season, when food insecurity is already a significant concern.

Kangleipal, during his visit to the village, expressed deep concern for the people’s well-being, noting that it was imperative to provide food for those affected by the crisis. The common kitchen aims to deliver vital sustenance to individuals in urgent need, ensuring that the community receives support despite the ongoing conflict.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the immediate humanitarian needs of Thamnapokpi residents, who have been struggling to survive amid the violence. The establishment of the kitchen is a response to the growing shortage of food and other essential resources in the area, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing unrest.

Kangleipal emphasized that the community’s safety and well-being must be prioritized during this challenging period, and the common kitchen will play a key role in alleviating the dire situation. While initially focused on providing for 100 villagers, the kitchen’s capacity will be adjusted to meet the needs of the population as the crisis continues.
