Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Indian Air Force Station in Bhuj, Gujarat, on May 16 following the successful completion of Operation Sindoor, a military strike that targeted Pakistani terror infrastructure and military assets. The visit aimed to boost troop morale and assess security after attempted cross-border attacks.
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to escalating threats from across the border. During the operation, Pakistan attempted to retaliate by launching missiles and deploying drones aimed at the Bhuj air base. India’s air defence systems intercepted all hostile projectiles, preventing any damage or casualties.
Indian Air Force units stationed at Bhuj responded swiftly, activating defence protocols that neutralized the incoming threats. No casualties or injuries were reported, and critical infrastructure remained intact due to the effectiveness of the countermeasures in place.
During his visit, Rajnath Singh interacted with air force personnel, praising their discipline and readiness. He lauded the IAF for its role in the operation and emphasized the government’s continued commitment to supporting the armed forces. Singh noted that the success of Operation Sindoor showcased India’s growing defence capabilities.
In light of recent developments, the government is considering a significant increase in defence spending, reportedly up to ₹50,000 crore. This potential hike is aimed at reinforcing military infrastructure and enhancing strategic preparedness against evolving security threats.
Rajnath Singh’s visit to the Bhuj Air Force Station underscores the government’s recognition of the IAF’s efforts and reflects a broader focus on strengthening India’s national defence amid ongoing regional tensions.
