The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) of Churachandpur district, in coordination with the local police, disconnected illegal water connections in Tualnuam village on Wednesday.
Led by Section Officer Lalrindik of the Lamka Division, the PHED team, accompanied by law enforcement, terminated the unauthorized taps in Tualnuam village, which falls under Zone-III of the Churachandpur water supply network. This operation, initiated last month, included reprimanding the individual involved, with a warning against future violations.
To date, approximately 30 instances of illegal water tapping have been identified. The PHED of Churachandpur has taken the necessary measures in response to these infractions.
The Section Officer of PHED urged residents to cease illegal water tapping, emphasizing the challenges faced by the department. Sealing off the supply lines where illegal taps are discovered is labor-intensive and impacts the delivery of drinking water. Many unauthorized taps are on the main supply line, which necessitates repairs, he stated.
This ongoing drive aims to ensure the adequate provision of drinking water to Churachandpur town from the Khuga dam water reservoir.
