It is useless to criticise each other now. Instead, let’s unite, stand and fight for our state together.”
Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed indignation on social media, questioning the rationale behind the Army’s actions and demanding accountability. He affirmed solidarity with journalists and the people of Manipur.
Khuraijam Athouba, convenor of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), criticized the current administration under President’s Rule, labeling it as “compromised” and “incapable.” He alleged that the administration had failed to protect Manipur’s identity and called for its resignation.
Social activist Ashang Kasar appealed to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister for the immediate removal of the Governor, Chief Secretary, and Director General of Police, advocating for their replacement with local leadership to restore effective governance.
Dr. Arambam Noni, an associate professor at DM University, stated that concealing the state’s name violates constitutional principles and infringes upon federal structures.
BJP Manipur Pradesh General Secretary P. Premananda condemned the incident, noting that the “Manipur” label has been a longstanding practice on state transport buses and should not be a point of contention.
