The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-I/M) issued a statement on Monday urging Arambai Tenggol to halt its harassment and violence against Christians in Manipur. The NSCN-I/M emphasized its commitment to peaceful coexistence among all religious groups in the region.

Since the onset of the Meitei-Kuki-Zo ethnic conflict on May 3, 2023, the NSCN-I/M has maintained neutrality while closely monitoring developments. The organization highlighted recent incidents involving Arambai Tenggol, accusing the group of targeting Christians through physical assaults and other forms of harassment.

The NSCN-I/M described the actions of Arambai Tenggol as a significant threat to peace and tolerance, attributing the group’s violent extremism to its radical socio-political beliefs. The statement identified the influential figures behind the formation of Arambai Tenggol as proponents of extreme principles aimed at fundamental reforms.

The NSCN-I/M called for a “change of heart” within Arambai Tenggol, urging the group to stop treating Christians as adversaries. The organization reaffirmed its stance on safeguarding the interests and safety of the Christian community in Manipur.

The ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur has heightened tensions among various communities. The NSCN-I/M’s appeal for peace reflects its broader vision of ensuring harmonious relations among different religious and ethnic groups in the state.

The NSCN-I/M’s call for Arambai Tenggol to cease hostilities against Christians underscores the importance of maintaining peace and tolerance in Manipur. The organization’s advocacy for peaceful coexistence remains crucial amid the ongoing ethnic tensions.
