The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three suspected Kuki militants in connection with a terror case, officials said on Sunday.
The trio, identified as Paominlun Haokip, alias “Khupa”, Selferson Singson, alias “Selson”, and Kamkholun Khongsai, alias “Kamlun”, were apprehended from different locations in Churachandpur district.
According to the NIA, the three are members of the Kuki National Front (KNF), a banned outfit, and were involved in various subversive activities, including extortion and bombing.
The agency seized several documents, including receipts of extortion money, and incriminating materials from their possession.
The NIA has registered a case against the trio under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The arrests come as a significant blow to the KNF, which has been accused of carrying out violent attacks in the state.
The NIA is conducting further investigations to unravel the network of the militant outfit.
