Narendra Modi, poised for his third term inauguration as Prime Minister, underscored governance through consensus and coalition politics during a gathering with newly-elected MPs from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. Modi emphasized that while a majority secures government formation, consensus is vital for effective governance.
Highlighting his three-decade association with the NDA, he lauded it as the most triumphant alliance, dedicated to the principle of ‘sarva dharma sambhava’ (equality of all religions).
Modi emphasized that the NDA transcends mere governance coalition, embodying shared values from leaders like Vajpayee, Prakash Singh Badal, Bal Thackeray, and George Fernandes. He stressed that good governance and poverty alleviation unite all NDA allies.
“I extend sincere gratitude to all constituent party leaders, newly elected MPs, and our Rajya Sabha MPs present in this gathering. It is a joy to welcome such a large group here today,” Modi expressed. “Congratulations to all victorious leaders.”
Taking a dig at EVM critics, Modi reminisced about their skepticism on June 4th as election results unfolded. He humorously inquired about the EVMs’ fate amid opposition allegations, mocking their relentless criticism. Modi highlighted this as a testament to India’s democratic resilience, hoping EVM debates would fade over the next five years.
Modi also praised the relentless efforts of NDA workers. “I humbly salute the thousands of workers who toiled day and night.”
Reflecting on the NDA’s enduring success, Modi remarked, “NDA’s third consecutive term in power reflects your confidence in me and our leaders. This alliance is now embarking on a new term.”
Modi expressed gratitude for being chosen as the NDA leader. “I am grateful that you have unanimously chosen me as the NDA leader. You have entrusted me with a new responsibility, for which I am deeply thankful,” he stated.
He stressed the importance of trust within the alliance. “When you selected me as the leader in 2019, I emphasized trust. Today, by assigning me this role, it signifies the robust trust between us. This relationship is built on a foundation of trust, our greatest asset.”
Modi highlighted India’s democratic strength. “Few discuss it, but behold the strength of India’s democracy – people have empowered the NDA to govern in 22 states.”
He reiterated the NDA’s commitment to inclusivity. “We uphold the principle of ‘sarva dharma sambhava’. NDA serves in 7 out of 10 states with a significant tribal population and also in regions with substantial Christian communities.”
“Mutual trust underpins this alliance,” Modi asserted. “In the next decade, the NDA government will focus on governance, development, and minimal interference in citizens’ lives.”
