MSC/CPI Takes Stand: Election Deferred Until State Crisis Resolved

Manipur State Council/Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) remains steadfast in its stance that parliamentary elections in Manipur should be postponed until a satisfactory resolution to the prevailing crisis is achieved.

Expressing dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s perceived focus on “campaigning for the parliamentary elections,” MSC/CPI, represented by M Joykumar Luwang, Assistant Secretary, criticized the government’s approach in a recent statement.

Drawing attention to the dire situation faced by over 60,000 people currently seeking refuge in relief camps, MSC/CPI argued that the sporadic aid provided by the State Government would offer limited relief. The party highlighted the commendable efforts of ordinary citizens across various parts of Manipur, whose contributions have surpassed the assistance provided by the State to those affected by the conflict.

In a proactive move, MSC/CPI called upon the State Government to establish special stalls in prominent towns, including Imphal, to facilitate the sale of products created by displaced persons, thereby supporting the displaced community economically.

The statement further criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for what was perceived as a failure to effectively address the ongoing violence, emphasizing that the crisis has endured for ten months without a tangible resolution.

Accusing the Prime Minister of neglecting the welfare of the State and its people, MSC/CPI asserted that secularism has suffered under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party expressed concerns that, in the current scenario, divine considerations appear to take precedence over the value placed on human lives.
