In a significant development, Monarch Laishram, 41, purportedly absconded after orchestrating the theft of a substantial sum of money from the SBI Bishnupur branch. However, law enforcement authorities swiftly acted upon the case, leading to the apprehension of the suspect in North Delhi.
The Delhi Crime Branch, in collaboration with the Delhi Police and Bishnupur District police, successfully apprehended Monarch Laishram. The arrest took place at Patel Chest Christian Colony, situated opposite the Maurice Nagar Police Station in North Delhi, at approximately 5:30 pm.
Reliable sources indicate that a team from the Bishnupur District police will transport the accused back to their jurisdiction on Saturday via air travel.
Monarch Laishram, identified as the son of Laishram Chaoba from Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai under the Nambol police station, was allegedly employed as a senior assistant at the SBI Bishnupur Branch. His sudden disappearance from office since April 2 without prior notification raised suspicion among bank officials.
It has come to light through a complaint lodged by the branch manager of SBI Bishnupur Branch at Nambol Police Station that Monarch Laishram had access to the locker room of the bank. The staff discovered the absence of approximately Rs 2 crore upon opening the locker room, prompting an immediate investigation.
Following the filing of the complaint, state police authorities initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. The primary objective is to ascertain the whereabouts of Monarch Laishram and recover the misappropriated funds.
