The United Meitei Pangal Committee Manipur, Manipuri Meitei-Pangal Social Unification & Upliftment Organisation, and All Manipur Meitei-Pangal Clubs Organisation have vehemently denounced the recent heinous attack on two Meitei Pangal individuals by unidentified perpetrators in Moreh.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, Raees Ahamed Tampak, spokesperson for the United Meitei Pangal Committee Manipur, labeled the brutal assault on the two drivers as devoid of humanity.
Expressing concern that Manipur is gradually descending into lawlessness, he pleaded for the swift delivery of justice and the prompt apprehension of the wrongdoers.
The Meitei Pangal community has tirelessly endeavored to restore tranquility in Manipur, yet, in certain instances, its members have been treated as “sacrificial lambs,” he asserted.
Advocating for the cessation of such acts, he issued a widespread appeal for a return to the Manipur of two to three years ago.
The Committee has also unanimously decided to express solidarity with the JAC formed in connection with the assault on the two drivers.
Meanwhile, at a press briefing conducted at the All Manipur Meitei-Pangal Clubs Organisation office in New Checkon today, Hayatur Rahman Yumkhaibam, president of AMMPCO, declared that the two drivers were assaulted by suspected Kuki miscreants.
As per AMMPCO, the two drivers are identified as Md Ila Singamayum, son of Ingo, and Md Imin Nongyaimayum, son of Sanaton from Kairang Chingya Leikai, Imphal East district.
They were allegedly attacked for delivering sand and stones for the construction of a barrack, stated the president of AMMPCO. Urging the Government to take decisive action against the culprits, he cautioned that AMMPCO would initiate a series of agitations in collaboration with the people otherwise.
Furthermore, a press release issued by MMSUUO strongly condemned the barbaric assault on the two Meitei-Pangal drivers on March 7. MMSUUO earnestly appealed to all communities residing in the State to abstain from committing such deplorable acts in the future.
The press release also remarked that during the prolonged conflict, Meitei-Pangal drivers, who diligently deliver essential items to the people, have often been at the receiving end of assaults and worse.
Accusing the State Government of maintaining silence on the issue, MMSUUO also questioned how the miscreants managed to abduct the two drivers from Moreh, which was in close proximity to a Central Force post. It added that the presence of Central Forces has not significantly curtailed the sporadic acts of violence erupting in the nooks and corners of the State.
MMSUUO has appealed to the State Government to take appropriate legal measures and penalize the perpetrators responsible for the brutal assault on the two innocent Meitei-Pangal drivers.
