Superintendent of Police Ksh Shivakanta addressed the media, issuing a strong warning to extortionists. He emphasized that individuals involved in extortion could face severe legal consequences under the National Security Act (NSA) or be referred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Shivakanta also urged parents to be vigilant about their children’s activities to prevent them from getting involved in criminal activities.
To reinforce public trust, SP Shivakanta assured that all complaints to the police would be treated with utmost confidentiality. The police have established an anti-extortion cell that has already led to the arrest of 11 individuals in recent operations.
The KCP is a prominent militant group in Manipur, known for its involvement in various illegal activities, including extortion. The group’s activities have been a significant source of unrest in the region. The state government, along with law enforcement agencies, has been actively working to dismantle these networks and restore peace and stability.
The recent arrests mark a crucial step in Manipur Police’s intensified efforts to combat extortion and related criminal activities. A case has been registered at Lamphel Police Station, and further investigations are underway. This operation underscores the commitment of the Manipur Police to ensure the safety and security of the state’s residents, sending a clear message to criminal elements operating in the region.
