The state of Manipur mourned the passing of N. Kayisii, a respected political leader and former Tadubi MLA, who died on January 18 at the age of 58 after a prolonged illness. In his honor, the Manipur government declared a half-holiday for state offices and institutions on January 20, enabling citizens to pay their respects and reflect on his contributions to the state.

    N. Kayisii, known for his dedication and integrity, served as the president of the Manipur unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) and was a pivotal figure in advocating for a united and progressive Manipur. His death marks a significant loss not only for his constituents in Tadubi but also for the broader political and social landscape of the state.

A state-led condolence ceremony was held at Kayisii’s residence in Lamphelpat, where a diverse group of political leaders, officials, and members of the public gathered to pay their final respects. Key attendees included Power Minister Th. Biswajit Singh, Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, and several MLAs, showcasing the high regard in which he was held across political affiliations.

The National Vice President of the NPP, Y. Joykumar Singh, led a delegation from the party to honor their late colleague. Joykumar conveyed the party’s condolences to the bereaved family and provided financial assistance, reflecting the NPP’s solidarity and support during this difficult time.

As part of the state’s tribute, a contingent from the Manipur Rifles performed a ceremonial guard of honor and a gun salute, symbolizing the government’s recognition of Kayisii’s service to the state.

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla issued an official statement expressing his profound sorrow at Kayisii’s passing. He described Kayisii as a leader of great vision and commitment who had worked tirelessly for the betterment of Manipur. The governor remarked that his demise is an irreplaceable loss and extended heartfelt condolences to his family and supporters.

During his tenure as an MLA and party leader, Kayisii was instrumental in addressing key issues affecting his constituency and the state, including infrastructure development, education, and community welfare. His leadership within the NPP played a crucial role in strengthening the party’s position in Manipur’s political landscape.

As the people of Manipur observe the half-holiday in his memory, N. Kayisii’s legacy as a devoted leader and advocate for unity remains deeply etched in the hearts of many. His contributions to the state, his vision for development, and his commitment to public service will continue to inspire future generations of leaders.
