In a recent ruling, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma of the Manipur High Court rejected MLA Usham Deben’s request to throw out former MLA Fajur Rahim’s election challenge. The court didn’t find enough reason to support Deben’s argument.
Additionally, the court ordered Deben to pay Rs 30,000 to the High Court Bar Association, Manipur, for relief.
Deben argued that Rahim’s petition should be dismissed because important documents weren’t properly included, facts weren’t fully disclosed, and procedural rules weren’t followed.
However, the court disagreed with each of these arguments. It explained that other issues Deben raised about whether Rahim’s petition could even be considered weren’t covered by specific legal rules and will need to be decided later.
This decision is a big deal in the ongoing legal fight over the election results.
