In a recent development, Th Sujata, the convenor of Imagi Meira, has urged the Manipur government to swiftly take action against armed miscreants who allegedly fired gunshots at her residence on April 20th. During a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club in Majorkhul, Imphal, Sujata emphasized the urgency of apprehending these individuals within a 15-day period, asserting that those motivated by monetary gain would face societal rejection in due time.
Sujata revealed that although an FIR was filed at the Imphal Police Station regarding the shooting incident, there have been no positive developments in the case. She further implicated the present government, suggesting that the armed assailants were sent due to her critical statements made during a previous press conference, which targeted the government rather than any specific organization.
During her previous press conference in April, Sujata issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding the identification of the unidentified individuals within three days. She also linked the conference to various unwanted incidents that occurred during the recent Lok Sabha inner elections.
Following the ultimatum, Sujata’s residence was attacked by armed miscreants, resulting in the firing of three rounds. She highlighted the frequent threats posed to doctors, civilians, and journalists by similar incidents.
Expressing concern for public safety, Sujata urged the government to take necessary steps to demonstrate the enforcement of law in Manipur effectively. She called attention to the unified command of the governor and the chief minister, emphasizing their role in maintaining public security. Additionally, she questioned the government’s claims of improved law and order compared to previous administrations.
Sujata also directed a message to security advisor Kuldiep, urging fair and impartial action against wrongdoers. She appealed to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, to reconsider his previous statements regarding the crisis.
In her closing remarks, Sujata called upon all sections of society to collaborate in identifying the culprits, appealing to the government to swiftly apprehend the ‘sakhangdabas’ (unidentified persons) responsible for the attacks.
