The Government of Manipur has deported 38 Myanmar nationals, including 11 children, to their home country via the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh.
Devesh Deval, Commissioner (Home) of the Government of Manipur, announced in a release on Tuesday that the individuals were safely handed over to Myanmar authorities by Indian Immigration Officers stationed at ICP, Moreh.
This action follows a previous deportation on May 2, in which another 38 Myanmar nationals, including eight children, were repatriated through the same ICP at Moreh.
The Myanmar nationals were apprehended for illegal entry into the state under the Foreigners Act, 1946. During their detention, they were provided with adequate care, basic amenities, and medical facilities.
The deportation process was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and various security forces. The state government reiterated its commitment to deport all individuals who have entered the state illegally, the release stated.
