Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condemned recent drone bombings that targeted both civilians and security forces as acts of terrorism. The statement comes in response to an incident on September 2, when two bombs, reportedly dropped by drones, exploded in the Senjam Chirang Maning region of the state. This escalation in violence has heightened concerns about the use of drones in conflict situations.

On September 2, at approximately 6:20 p.m., two bombs allegedly dropped from drones detonated in the Senjam Chirang Maning area of Manipur. The explosions resulted in injuries to Watham Sanatombi Devi, a 23-year-old resident of Senjam Chirang Maning Leikai. The incident marks a troubling increase in the use of drones for violent purposes within the region, which has been experiencing heightened ethnic tensions and unrest in recent months.

In response to the attack, Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to social media to express his condemnation. Singh labeled the drone bombings as “cowardly” and an act of terrorism. He emphasized that the state government is committed to addressing such threats with all necessary measures. Singh’s statement underscored the gravity of the situation, highlighting the government’s resolve to combat terrorism and protect the indigenous population.

Singh also extended his condemnation to all forms of violence, urging the people of Manipur to stand united against hate, division, and separatism. His call for unity reflects a broader effort to address the escalating violence that has disrupted normal life in the state and strained local communities.

The recent drone attack has raised serious concerns about the growing sophistication and intensity of the conflict in Manipur. Authorities are now focusing on investigating the incident to identify those responsible and to assess the broader security implications of using drones in such attacks. The use of drones in this context represents a significant development in the ongoing violence, suggesting a shift towards more advanced and potentially more dangerous methods of conflict.

The situation in Manipur remains tense as authorities work to address the repercussions of the recent drone bombings. With increasing concerns over the use of drones in violence, the state government and security forces are intensifying their efforts to restore order and ensure the safety of civilians. The investigation into the September 2 incident continues, and further updates are expected as the situation evolves. The state government’s commitment to combating terrorism and fostering unity among its people will be crucial in addressing the ongoing challenges and stabilizing the region.
