A tragic landslide has struck Dimthanlong village in Manipur, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her child. Additionally, one individual has sustained critical injuries.
The landslide occurred on July 30, 2024, due to heavy rains that caused significant soil displacement and destruction in the region. Rescue operations were promptly initiated, with local authorities and emergency services working tirelessly to assist those affected and to recover the bodies of the victims.
The critically injured individual was quickly transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment and is currently under intensive care.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed his condolences on X, acknowledging the tragedy and assuring that state assistance will be provided to the victims. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by the landslide in Dimthanlong village. The state government will extend all possible support to them during this difficult time,” he wrote.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents to remain vigilant and to take necessary precautions as the region experiences ongoing heavy rainfall.
