On Friday morning, suspected militants carried out a bomb attack in Bishnupur district, Manipur, damaging at least two structures, according to police reports. Rockets were launched from elevated positions in the adjacent hill areas of Churachandpur district, targeting the residential locality of Tronglaobi, approximately 45 kilometers from the state capital, Imphal.
The rockets, with an estimated range exceeding 3 kilometers, caused damage to a local community hall and an empty room. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
The attack also involved multiple rounds of gunfire directed at Bishnupur district, prompting a retaliatory response from security forces.
Additionally, heightened tension was reported in Kumbi village, situated a few kilometers from Tronglaobi, on Thursday night. Eyewitnesses reported the presence of multiple drones flying at a low altitude of less than 100 meters.
