During the second phase of Lok Sabha Polls in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district, the Kuki-Zo people continued their decision not to vote at several polling stations in Senapati district, which is its neighboring area.
In the second phase of Lok Sabha Polls, Senapati, along with other districts like Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Noney, and Pherzawl, participates.
Although the first phase of voting concluded in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district, some Kuki-Zo villages in Karong Assembly Constituency and Tadubi Assembly Constituency, both falling under Senapati district, remain unvoted.
In the areas where the Kuki-Zo community dominates in Senapati district, no votes were cast as they adhered to the directive of the Kuki’s apex body, following a unified decision of Kuki-Zo civil society organizations.
Despite this, voters from other communities exercised their voting rights peacefully without any disruptions.
The Kuki-Zo community in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district had also refrained from voting entirely during the first phase of polling.
