The Kakching Khunou Keithel Vendors Association conducted a sit-in protest on Monday at Kakching Khunou Market. The demonstration was in opposition to certain individuals who resisted the installation of an SBI branch at the said market in Kakching district.
According to the protesters, Sugnu MLA K Ranjit had sent a recommendation letter in 2021 to the regional manager of SBI and the chief secretary of the state government. The letter proposed the establishment of an SBI branch at Kakching Khunou Market, following appeals from the residents of the Kakching Khunou Municipal Council and the local MLA.
However, some individuals allegedly opposed these efforts and attempted to relocate the SBI branch to a different site, away from Kakching Khunou Market. During the protest, the demonstrators chanted slogans to express their dissent.
