The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking his intervention in addressing the escalating ethnic tensions in Manipur. The letter highlights the alleged high-handedness of central agencies towards Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers and accuses the majority community of conducting ethnic cleansing against Kuki-Zos.
The ITLF has demanded a political solution under Article 239A for Kuki-Zo autonomy, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive resolution to the long-standing issue. The letter comes at a time when Manipur is grappling with violence and unrest, resulting in the displacement of many innocent civilians.
The Forum’s move is seen as a desperate attempt to draw the attention of the central government towards the deteriorating situation in the state. The ITLF has appealed to the Home Minister to initiate a dialogue with the stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
