The Indian Army thwarted an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday. During the operation, one Pakistani terrorist was killed, and three Indian soldiers sustained injuries.

The encounter, which marks the second clash in Kupwara within three days, commenced in the Kamkari area following intelligence reports of potential terrorist activities. The operation was ongoing at the time of this report.

The Indian Army confirmed the incident, stating, “There has been an exchange of fire with unidentified personnel on a forward post in Kamkari, Macchal Sector on the Line of Control. One Pakistani individual has been killed, while two of our soldiers have been injured and evacuated. Operations are in progress.”

On July 24, security forces neutralized an unidentified terrorist in an overnight gunfight in Kupwara’s Lolab area, during which one soldier was also killed.

Sources indicate that a group of approximately 40 to 50 Pakistani terrorists is reportedly hiding in the high-altitude regions of Jammu and Kashmir. This has led to intensified counter-terror operations by security forces to locate and apprehend them. The infiltrating terrorists are reportedly equipped with advanced weaponry, including American-made M4 Carbine Rifles with night vision devices.
