An FIR has been lodged against Ginza Vualzong, the Media and Publicity Secretary of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), for his alleged involvement in the ethnic violence in Manipur.
The FIR, registered on September 4, 2024, at the Imphal Police Station, accuses Vualzong of inciting violence and unrest between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities. The complaint details that Vualzong disseminated provocative statements and materials, including social media posts that allegedly urged violence against the Meitei community. Additionally, the FIR mentions his involvement in securing foreign funding to support ITLF’s activities.
The FIR cites multiple sections of the BNS Act, including Sections 3(5), 3(6), 46, 49, and 61, accusing Vualzong of contributing to the escalation of violence since May 3, 2023. The complaint also references the use of sophisticated weaponry and drone technology by the ITLF, allegedly funded by foreign sources.
In response, Vualzong has denied the allegations, stating that the accusations are part of a larger conflict between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities. He emphasized that the accusations are attempts by adversaries to undermine him and indicated that he is consulting with his lawyer to address the matter legally.
The filing of the FIR against Ginza Vualzong highlights the ongoing tensions and complex dynamics of ethnic violence in Manipur. As investigations proceed, the state remains on high alert, with security forces continuing their efforts to maintain order and prevent further violence.
