The Manipur government has officially declared public holidays for the repoll day in the Outer Manipur Constituency, which falls on Tuesday. These holidays will be observed by all public offices, educational institutions, autonomous bodies, and other entities. Additionally, employees of commercial and private undertakings will be granted paid leave.

According to a notice issued by the Deputy Secretary of the General Administration Department, Government of Manipur, Asem Rangina Chanu, public sector employees are entitled to a day off, while private sector employees within the six polling stations of the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency will receive paid leave on the day of the repolls.

The notice also provides details of the Assembly segments and polling stations involved. For 44-Ukhrul (ST), the polling stations are 44/20-Shangshak A, 44/36-Ukhrul (A), 44/41-Ukhrul (D-1), and 44/50-Ukhrul (F). The polling station for 45-Chingai (ST) is 45/14-Chingai, and for 47-Karong (ST) it is 47/33-Oinam (A1).

The Labour Commissioner cum Secretary, Government of Manipur, will coordinate with private enterprises, industrial centers, and other institutions covered by the Shops and Commercials Establishment Act. They are required to declare the specified day as a paid holiday for their employees residing in the mentioned six polling stations.

The notice assures that there will be no deduction or reduction of wages for employees granted a holiday in accordance with the law. Even if an employee would not typically receive wages for such a day, they will still be compensated accordingly.

Furthermore, the Governor of Manipur has declared public holidays for all banks, financial institutions, and LIC located in the designated polling stations. These establishments will remain closed on the specified day.

To ensure that government employees, bank staff, public sector workers, and others residing in these polling stations but working elsewhere can exercise their voting rights, they are entitled to Special Casual Leave or paid leave on the appointed day.

This decision follows a press release dated April 27, issued by the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, and the Election Commission of India’s directive under relevant sections of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. This directive invalidated the poll held on April 26 at the six polling stations, appointing April 30 as the date for fresh polls, to be conducted from 7 am to 4 pm.
