The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) in Kangpokpi district has raised its voice against alleged acts of repeated aggression targeting Kuki-Zo-dominated areas. Miscreants are accused of perpetrating these aggressive acts, breaching what CoTU refers to as “buffer zones.”
CoTU specifically condemned an attack on Lambung Peak, a Kuki-Zo-dominated area near Koutruk, occurring on March 5 at around 10 pm. Expressing concern over the breach of buffer zones, CoTU is demanding a thorough investigation into these alleged acts of aggression.
In a simultaneous development, the Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal endorsed a public rally in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi, organized by CoTU. The rally aimed to manifest Kuki-Zo’s resentment against the Manipur State Assembly’s resolution to abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki groups.
The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal criticized the State Assembly’s resolution, labeling it as “another high voltage drama.” Notably, this resolution transpired in the absence of 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs, sparking controversy and debate.
The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal reiterated the importance of not challenging or misusing the Suspension of Operation Agreement between the Centre and the United People’s Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organization (KNO). Emphasizing the agreement’s significance beyond appeasement for a single community, the statement urged a broader perspective.
Amidst these tensions, local authorities assure a meticulous investigation into the alleged aggression. Their commitment is geared towards fostering a peaceful environment where diverse communities can coexist harmoniously.
Calls for unity and understanding echo within the community, emphasizing the need to preserve harmony and mutual respect. As the situation unfolds, the hope is for a resolution that bridges gaps and strengthens the social fabric in Kangpokpi district.
