Taragi Cheisu, an amalgamation of concerned elders, implored the governing authorities and the electoral body to ensure a fair voting atmosphere and maintain stringent security measures to prevent unethical behaviors such as bribery, enticement, threats, and coercion during the election process.
The coalition urged all voters to uphold their integrity while exercising their voting rights and reject unethical conduct.
Addressing the press at the organization’s headquarters in Imphal, Taragi Cheishu’s chairman, Khaidem Mani, emphasized that thousands of Manipuris affected by the crisis are pinning their hopes on the upcoming parliamentary election as a pivotal moment to address the state’s issues.
“This is a crucial juncture to elect the appropriate political representatives who can articulate the aspirations of Manipuris from both the inner and outer Parliamentary constituencies,” he stated.
He underscored the need for strong political leadership capable of transcending communal divisions and formulating an achievable agenda.
“The election has the potential to shift the balance towards the promotion of democratic values, ensuring tranquility, establishing robust security measures, and fostering development for all inhabitants of the state,” he emphasized.
Hence, he earnestly urged all individuals directly and indirectly impacted by the violent conflict to rely on their morality and rationality when selecting the deserving candidate.
He also expressed his desire for all candidates to exhibit high moral and ethical standards throughout their election campaigns.
