Churachandpur, June 25 – The Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has announced a rally on June 28 aimed at safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The rally, titled “Manipur Kanba Khongchat,” will begin at Thangmeiband Thao Ground and culminate at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
COCOMI has urged all elected representatives, including MLAs, ministers, bureaucrats, government officials, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to join the event.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, COCOMI coordinator Thokchom Somendro highlighted the prolonged crisis in Manipur, with violence persisting for over a year and two months. He emphasized that the protests reflect widespread public dissatisfaction with the policies of both the state and central governments, accusing them of deceiving the people.
“The rally will commence at 9 am from Thangmeiband’s Thao Ground and will proceed to Khuman Lampak Main Stadium,” Somendro stated.
COCOMI has extended an invitation to all indigenous communities in Manipur to participate in the rally to defend the state’s territorial integrity.
Somendro stressed that the Indian government must recognize the people of Manipur as citizens to resolve the ongoing conflict. He also accused the central government of undermining Chief Minister Biren’s authority and taking control of Manipur’s law and order to prolong violence for geopolitical interests.
The rally will feature slogans expressing the people’s determination to protect Manipur’s integrity and reject oppressive measures by the Indian government. Additionally, the rally will call for an end to narco-terrorism and the expulsion of narco-terrorists from Manipur. The slogans will also demand the termination of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with narco-terrorists, the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to safeguard Manipur’s land, and decisive actions to end the ongoing turmoil.
