Chief Minister N. Biren Singh lauded the central government for its swift action in addressing Manipur’s challenges and approving several developmental projects. During a press conference at the Secretariat, Singh expressed gratitude for the approvals received during his recent visit to Delhi.
Key projects include the construction of 7,000 houses sanctioned by the Ministry of Urban Development and 2,000 houses for internally displaced persons approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Additionally, the Ministry of Road Transport has allocated Rs 1,000 crore for highway construction and Rs 175 crore for concrete roads in district headquarters. A new football stadium, valued at Rs 220 crore, has also been approved.
Biren announced the resumption of work on a previously halted railway line and introduced a special relief package for the upcoming festivals, providing Rs 1,000 to each government care inmate. He assured that pending salaries and pensions for government employees will be cleared by October 31.
The CM highlighted the Centre’s commitment to bridging developmental gaps and supporting Manipur’s progress.
