Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has commended the efforts of the Kangpokpi district administration in organizing recreational activities for children in relief camps, emphasizing the significance of nurturing young minds even in challenging circumstances.

The Chief Minister, in a statement shared on the social media platform “X,” highlighted the importance of creating a positive environment for children to channel their energy and creativity. He noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in promoting mental well-being and instilling hope among young individuals displaced by difficult situations.

The Kangpokpi district administration has reached out to 1,610 children residing in 34 relief camps, implementing various programs designed to provide emotional support and recreational opportunities. Activities include outdoor games such as football and volleyball, and park visits, aimed at encouraging physical activity and camaraderie among the children.

Additionally, the administration has distributed recreational materials, including carrom boards, badminton sets, and other items, ensuring children have access to activities that engage them creatively and constructively.

The initiatives reflect a broader understanding of the psychological challenges faced by children in displacement camps. Experts have consistently emphasized the importance of maintaining a sense of normalcy for children during crises, and such recreational activities help mitigate trauma and provide emotional stability.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s acknowledgment of these efforts underscores the government’s focus on holistic welfare during humanitarian crises. The statement also serves as an encouragement for other districts to adopt similar initiatives, ensuring no child is deprived of opportunities to grow and thrive, even in adverse circumstances.

The recreational programs in Kangpokpi relief camps illustrate a proactive approach to addressing the multifaceted needs of children in temporary shelters. With continued focus and support, such measures aim to create a positive impact, enabling children to rebuild their lives with resilience and hope.
