    The Liangmai community came together to celebrate the vibrant ‘Chagaa Ngee’ festival on October 30, 2024, at Jadonang Park in Tamenglong district. This annual event, organized by the Liangmai Naga Council, is a significant cultural celebration that aims to foster unity and pride among the Liangmai people.

    The festival commenced with a warm welcome from local leaders and dignitaries, emphasizing the importance of cultural heritage in promoting community bonding. Among the notable attendees was 185 CRPF Assistant Commandant Angambou Kalengta, who addressed the crowd, highlighting the role of festivals in preserving traditions and promoting social harmony.

    A key feature of ‘Chagaa Ngee’ is its rich cultural performances. Attendees were treated to traditional dances showcasing the vibrant customs of the Liangmai people. Performers adorned in colorful traditional attire captivated the audience with their intricate movements, reflecting the deep-rooted history and traditions of the community. The festival also provided an opportunity for local artisans and food vendors to showcase authentic Liangmai cuisine, further enhancing the cultural experience.

    Spiritual blessings played a significant role in the celebrations. The principal of Tamenglong Immanuel Theological Seminary, SP Tunchabou, offered prayers and blessings for peace and prosperity in the region, reinforcing the festival’s themes of unity and togetherness.

    This year’s celebration attracted a diverse audience, including attendees from various regions, underscoring the festival’s importance as a unifying event for the Liangmai community. As the festival unfolded, it became clear that ‘Chagaa Ngee’ serves not only as a celebration of cultural identity but also as a platform for promoting social cohesion among different ethnic groups in the area.
