Engaging in a collaborative effort, the Imphal East District Police, 22 Assam Rifles, and G/4 Bn. CRPF orchestrated a meticulously planned cordon and search operation at the break of dawn on Tuesday. Their motivation stemmed from credible intelligence received at the foothill of Utonglok village under Sagolmang PS, Imphal East district, Manipur, leading to the successful retrieval of arms and hand grenades.
Among the confiscated weaponry were a single 9 mm US-manufactured M-1 carbine machine gun, a tear gas gun, a handful of live 9 mm ammunition, one tear gas shell, a cluster of discharged tear gas shells, and three 36 HE hand grenades.
The apprehension and confiscation occurred promptly at 9:40 am, with the contraband swiftly delivered to Sagolmang Police Station for further processing. Consequently, a routine case under FIR No 12(3)2024 SMG PS u)u/s 25,(2-C) A. Act & 5, Expl. Subs Act has been initiated for thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, in a synchronized effort, a joint task force consisting of Bishnupur police and BSF executed parallel cordon and search maneuvers at Kwakta ward no 4 under Phougakchao Ikhai PS in Bishnupur district on Tuesday.
Throughout the operation, approximately 30 individuals underwent rigorous scrutiny, with an additional 120 subjects undergoing verification. Despite the intensive efforts, neither arrests nor recoveries were forthcoming.
