In a significant development, security forces have recovered a diverse array of arms and ammunition during search operations conducted in the remote and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
According to a statement released by the Manipur Police Control Room, the recovered items include firearms such as an SMG Carbine, a 9mm pistol, a DBBL firearm, along with various grenades, launchers, magazines, live rounds, cartridges, and communication devices. These items were seized from the Gwarok Ching area in the Thoubal district.
Additionally, the statement highlighted the ongoing rescue efforts being carried out by the Manipur Police, Army, AR, NDRF, and SDRF in flood-affected areas of the state, emphasizing the relentless nature of these operations.
In a separate incident, the Manipur Police announced the arrest of two active members of the proscribed outfit KCP (City Meitei) in Thoubal district. The arrested individuals, identified as Lairenlakpam Thoiba and Singam Kabikanta, were found in possession of firearms, live rounds, a vehicle, and mobile handsets.
Furthermore, the Control Room disclosed the arrest of an active cadre of KCP(MC) named Chingsubam Johnny Singh, alias Chingkhei, from Ngangkhalawai Mamang Leikai in the Bishnupur District. Singh was found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, ammunition, and a mobile phone, with allegations of involvement in extortion activities.
Another arrest was made in Bishnupur District, where Laishram Rabi Singh was apprehended for illegal possession of arms and ammunition. Singh was found with a rifle, pistol, and live ammunition rounds.
The statement assured the public that the situation in the state is under control, with security measures being strengthened, including the installation of checkpoints and the detention of individuals involved in violations.
An appeal was made to the public to exercise caution against rumors and false videos, with instructions to verify information through the designated hotline number provided by the Central Control Room. Additionally, cooperation was sought for the return of looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the authorities or the nearest security forces.
