In a fervent statement on Tuesday, the All Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) strongly denounced the widespread proliferation of gun culture in Manipur and urged both state and central authorities to halt such aggressive escalation.
“The government ought to resign if it fails to uphold democratic principles,” declared the collective.
Addressing the media at the AMKIL office in Imphal, AMKIL president Lourembam Ngangbi expressed that the populace yearned to come together and decisively take a stand amidst the turmoil.
“However, the electoral process has become a hindrance in our pursuit. It has driven a wedge between us,” she remarked.
Ngangbi accused the state government of deliberately pitting women against each other for their own selfish gains.
This manipulation has fostered a facade of discord among the populace, she remarked.
She emphasized that such hostile maneuvers were incompatible with the ideals of a democratic nation and asserted that the populace would revolt if authorities failed to address the situation promptly.
Additionally, on the auspicious occasion of Khongjom Day, AMKIL paid homage to martyrs with floral tributes.
