A 22-year-old man was apprehended on Saturday for allegedly attempting to stab a Border Security Force (BSF) Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) on duty in Sugnu Awang Leikai Koubok, under the jurisdiction of Sugnu Police Station, Kakching District. The incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m.

The suspect, identified as Meisnam Manihal, son of Meisnam Ingocha of Sugunu Wapokpi Chingdol Leikai, approached the BSF bunker on a bicycle. According to sources, Manihal attempted to attack BSF ASI Sunil Kumar with a Khukri.

Witnesses reported that Manihal stopped his bicycle in front of the BSF post and washed his hands with water from nearby potholes. He then suddenly lunged at Kumar with the Khukri. Kumar managed to defend himself by pushing Manihal away, after which the suspect fled the scene.

Kumar immediately informed the BSF team’s commander of the incident. Manihal was subsequently arrested and handed over to Sugnu Police Station, along with the Khukri used in the attack.
