The Manipur Police, in tandem with the Indian Army, successfully retrieved an extensive stockpile of weaponry, munitions, and explosive ordnance strategically located in the focal points of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts, as officially reported by the police.
These seizures transpired within the preceding 48 hours, notwithstanding the absence of any apprehensions during the entirety of the operations.
Prompted by precise intelligence indicating the presence of arms and ammunition proximate to the Mashem River, within the general vicinity of Phoisanbung village, Churachandpur District (Manipur), a collaborative effort involving Assam Rifles, BSF, and the Manipur Police was initiated. This collaboration led to the commencement of a comprehensive joint cordon and search operation.
A meticulous, joint exploration of the general area ensued, culminating in the retrieval of various armaments, including an M-16 Rifle, a 9mm pistol, four grenades, a Single Barrel Rifle, and an Improvised Long Range Mortar, accompanied by war-like stores.
In a subsequent incursion, the cooperative team confiscated eleven SBBL Guns, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine, three Improvised Heavy Mortar Pumpi Guns, four Improvised Heavy Mortar (Pumpi) bombs, and seventeen rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition (Sniper) from Churachandpur district.
Throughout the operations, a myriad of items were reclaimed: a 5.56mm US-made M-16 Assault Rifle, a 5.56mm M-16 Assault Rifle Magazine, a 12-inch Single Bore Barrel Gun, a No. 36 HE Hand Grenade without a detonator, thirty-three single bore live cartridges, five fired single bore cartridge cases, six 5.56mm live rounds, a combat pouch, a sling bag, and an ammunition waist belt. The police diligently handed over all confiscated items to the police stations concerned. Furthermore, rigorous search operations and area domination were executed in the vulnerable regions of Kangpokpi district.
