The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched its Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-08) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The launch occurred at 5:47 am IST using the SSLV-D3 rocket.

The EOS-08 satellite, weighing approximately 350 kg, was deployed into orbit via the SSLV-D3 rocket. This marks the third flight of the SSLV-D3 rocket, a four-stage launch vehicle designed to carry payloads up to 500 kg into a 500 km sun-synchronous orbit. The SSLV-D3 rocket’s payload capacity and versatility make it a significant asset for satellite deployments.

EOS-08 is equipped to provide high-resolution imagery that will support a range of applications, including agriculture, forestry, and disaster management. With a mission life of five years, the satellite is expected to enhance ISRO’s capabilities in monitoring and managing natural resources, contributing valuable data for various sectors.

The successful deployment of EOS-08 strengthens ISRO’s Earth observation capabilities, expanding its ability to provide detailed and timely information critical for effective resource management and environmental monitoring. This launch underscores ISRO’s ongoing commitment to advancing space technology and improving satellite-based services for India and beyond.
