A coordinated effort by local authorities has successfully facilitated the return of 133 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their homes in Mongbung Meitei Village, Jiribam District. This development marks a significant step towards restoring normalcy in the region following recent unrest.

The return of the IDPs was a joint operation involving the Jiribam District Administration, police forces, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Assam Rifles (AR). The displaced individuals included 26 men, 45 women, and 62 children, all of whom were previously evacuated due to safety concerns arising from the conflict in the area.

The collaborative effort underscored the commitment of local and national agencies to address the humanitarian crisis and ensure the safe return of displaced individuals. Enhanced security measures have been implemented to prevent further displacement and protect returning residents.

According to officials, the security situation in Manipur remains under control, with continuous operations conducted to maintain order and safety. Recent security operations have resulted in the seizure of various weapons, contributing to a safer environment for residents. Additionally, two individuals involved in extortion activities were apprehended, further indicating the authorities’ proactive measures to curb criminal activities.

The authorities have emphasized the importance of safe passage for all returning IDPs and have increased patrols and checkpoints to ensure their protection. The coordinated efforts have also included the provision of necessary amenities and support to ease the transition of returning families.

In a statement, officials urged the public to disregard rumors and misinformation that could hinder the peace process. The appeal extended to the surrender of looted arms, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in maintaining security.

The return of the IDPs to their homes is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in Manipur. Authorities remain vigilant, with continuous monitoring and intervention strategies in place to address any emerging threats.

Residents and returning IDPs are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities. The collaborative approach between the community and security forces is deemed crucial for long-term peace and development in the region.

As Manipur continues to navigate the complexities of post-conflict recovery, the successful return of the IDPs to Jiribam serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the local population and authorities working in unison to rebuild their lives and communities.
