Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has announced the introduction of cable cars at Ibudhou Marjing Hill, marking a significant step in boosting tourism in Manipur. This announcement was made during the inauguration of BABINA Specialty Hospital in Imphal East, where CM also outlined several other key infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the state’s development.

The introduction of cable cars is part of a broader strategy to attract tourists to Manipur. Ibudhou Marjing Hill, known for its cultural and historical significance, is expected to draw more visitors with the new cable car system, providing a unique and scenic mode of transportation.

During his speech, CM highlighted a series of development initiatives, including a Rs 126 crore project around Loktak Lake. This project aims to preserve the lake’s ecosystem while promoting it as a prime tourist destination. Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in northeastern India, is famous for its floating phumdis (islands), and the government’s project seeks to enhance its natural beauty and accessibility.

Additionally, the Rs 600 crore Lamphelpat Rejuvenation Project was announced, which focuses on revitalizing the Lamphelpat area to mitigate flooding issues and create a sustainable urban environment. This project is expected to significantly improve the region’s resilience to climate change and environmental degradation.

CM also detailed a Rs 36 crore initiative to beautify the Waithou water bodies, enhancing their aesthetic appeal and ecological health. This project will include measures to clean and preserve these water bodies, making them more attractive to both locals and tourists.

Infrastructure improvements in Greater Imphal were another focal point of CM’s address. With an allocation of Rs 3500 crore, the government plans to develop concrete roads, improving connectivity and transportation within the city. These upgrades are expected to facilitate smoother traffic flow and better urban mobility.

The Chief Minister took the opportunity to emphasize the achievements of the BJP-led government in the health sector. He pointed out the successful implementation of health initiatives aimed at providing better healthcare services to the citizens of Manipur. These initiatives include the establishment of new healthcare facilities and the enhancement of existing ones to ensure comprehensive medical care.

CM also mentioned the ongoing efforts to provide skill training for internally displaced persons under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. This program aims to equip displaced individuals with the skills necessary for gainful employment, thereby improving their livelihoods and contributing to the state’s economy.

Health Minister Sapam Ranjan Singh, who was present at the event, praised the contributions of the private sector to the healthcare system, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He acknowledged the crucial role played by private hospitals and healthcare providers in managing the health crisis and supporting the government’s efforts to combat the virus.

The announcements made by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh underscore the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth, enhancing infrastructure, and improving the quality of life for the people of Manipur. The introduction of cable cars and the launch of various development projects are expected to have a lasting positive impact on the state’s tourism, environment, and overall development.
