To ensure a smooth counting process for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, a comprehensive three-tier security arrangement will be implemented at the Imphal West DC office complex.
Scheduled for June 4, the counting will begin at 8 a.m. Inner Manipur covers 32 Assembly Constituencies across four valley districts.
Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar, who is also the returning officer for Inner Manipur PC, and Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta briefed the media on the preparations at the DC Office complex on Saturday.
Kirankumar stated that the strong room will be opened at 6:30 a.m., with ballots transported to the counting hall under tight security, despite both locations being within the DC complex, to ensure maximum safety.
In Imphal West, counting will take place for 13 Assembly Constituencies across nine counting halls, all under CCTV surveillance. Seven halls will handle EVM counting, while two will focus on postal ballots and ETPBS.
The returning officer highlighted that all personnel involved, including Counting AROs, Micro-Observers, Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, and MTS, have completed their first round of training and will undergo a second round to ensure readiness.
The winning candidate’s certificate will only be issued after the entire counting process is complete, he added.
SP Ksh Shivakanta confirmed that extensive security measures will be in place outside the DC complex to maintain law and order. Traffic restrictions will also be implemented around the DC Office complex.
Both the returning officer and the SP urged the public to accept the results peacefully, contributing to a smooth and orderly election process.
