Manipur Police clarified on Monday that “buffer zones” do not exist, addressing reports of such zones in inter-district areas.
However, security forces are stationed in vulnerable and sensitive areas to prevent incidents and miscreant activity, a statement said.
In the past 24 hours, the situation in the state remained under control.
Security forces conducted search operations in the vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
Three long-range mortars, a .303 rifle, two 12-bore guns, 25 rounds of ammunition, a Chinese radio set, and two hand grenades were seized during operations in Imphal East.
The movement of 100 and 208 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively, with essential items was ensured. Security measures are in place in all vulnerable locations, with convoys provided for safe vehicle passage.
A total of 124 checkpoints were set up in different districts of Manipur. Police detained 79 people for violations in various districts.
