In a startling discovery that has reverberated throughout the Gomati district, authorities unearthed an ancient male skeleton from the Gomati River, mere days before the Bengali New Year festivities. This occurrence unfolded on a Saturday afternoon as locals gathered at the river for their customary cleansing ritual, only to spot what initially appeared to be a fish adrift in the water. However, upon closer inspection, it was discerned to be the skeletal remains of a human.
The sight of the skeletal remains sparked panic among the bathers, who promptly notified the Radha Kishore Pur police station. The news of this grim discovery quickly spread, eliciting a swift response from law enforcement officials. Gomati District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, accompanied by Additional Superintendent Souvik Dey, Radha Kishorepur Police Station OC Babul Das, and Mahila Police Station OC Alpana Sarkar, rushed to the scene to oversee the recovery operation.
Addressing the media, SP Pathak confirmed the antiquity of the skeleton and announced the launch of an investigation to unravel the mystery of its origins. Authorities are presently sifting through missing persons reports to determine if the remains can be linked to any unresolved cases. Meanwhile, the skeleton has been transported to the Gomati District Hospital mortuary for further examination.
Adding complexity to the investigation, local residents have expressed suspicions regarding the gender of the deceased. The presence of branches intertwined within the skeleton’s hands has led some to speculate that it may belong to a female. This discrepancy has fueled demands for a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the true identity of the remains.
As the community grapples with this unsettling discovery, the police remain determined to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the skeleton’s deposition in the river. The authorities have assured the public of their commitment to conducting a meticulous investigation and providing closure to this eerie episode.
