Robust and lengthy square iron poles slid off a moving Tata DI on the bustling Minuthong-Kekrupat road at approximately 9:30 a.m. today.

Significantly, the Minuthong-Kekrupat road ranks among Imphal’s busiest thoroughfares, witnessing numerous accidents along its expanse.

According to a statement, the Kekru-pat Minuthong Development Committee asserted that the Tata DI, bearing Manipur registration, was transporting iron poles beyond its capacity.

The iron poles slid off in front of the vehicle, obstructing its path as it traveled from Minuthong towards North AOC.

The committee expressed concern that a significant tragedy could have ensued if other vehicles had been in proximity to the Tata DI.

Additionally, the committee alleged that traffic personnel and police have been neglecting the transportation of timbers, bamboos, and other heavy objects in a hazardous manner, surpassing vehicle capacities.

Highlighting the common occurrence of traffic congestion along Minuthong road, the committee urged relevant authorities to promptly address the issue and prohibit the transportation of goods beyond vehicle capacity and in risky conditions.
