Efforts to secure the movement of essential items have been intensified, with authorities implementing stringent security measures to safeguard transportation routes. A total of 146 and 195 vehicles carrying essential goods have been facilitated along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively, under the watchful eye of law enforcement agencies. These vehicles play a crucial role in meeting the needs of the local population, making their safe passage imperative.
To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and mitigate security risks, strict security measures have been deployed across vulnerable locations. Security convoys are providing escort services along sensitive stretches, bolstering efforts to maintain the integrity of transportation routes. This comprehensive approach aims to guarantee the free and safe movement of vehicles, minimizing disruptions and ensuring timely delivery of essential goods.
In addition to bolstering security along transportation routes, authorities have installed a total of 129 Nakas/Checkpoints in various districts of Manipur. Positioned strategically in both hill and valley regions, these checkpoints serve as vital checkpoints for monitoring vehicular movement and enforcing regulations. Police personnel stationed at these checkpoints are diligently monitoring traffic and detaining individuals found to be in violation of laws and regulations.
However, these security measures have not been without controversy. The recent detention of 340 persons by the police in connection with violations has sparked debate and raised questions about the enforcement tactics employed. While some argue that these actions are necessary to maintain law and order and safeguard public safety, others question the legality and fairness of the detentions, highlighting concerns about civil liberties and human rights.
