On the occasion of Yaoshang 2024, the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, and Chief Minister N Biren Singh extend their warmest greetings and wishes.
In her address, Anusuiya Uikey conveys her sincerest regards to the people of Manipur on this joyous and propitious occasion.
Yaoshang, also known as Holi elsewhere, is celebrated with zeal as it heralds the arrival of spring. This festival of colors symbolizes the renewal of life’s spirit. It is a time of exuberance, enthusiasm, and spirituality, urging us to set aside our disparities and reinforce the bonds of unity.
“We have observed a transformation in the festival’s observance, with sports gaining prominence in various parts of the State. Sports are deeply ingrained in the essence of Yaoshang, emphasizing participation regardless of age, caste, gender, or creed. It is heartening to witness the participation of all communities in the festivities,” the message stated.
“On this year’s Yaoshang, let us collectively strive for a better and more harmonious Manipur, where every community holds mutual respect and embraces the roles and spaces of others, joining in wholeheartedly. Let us celebrate the festival in its true essence,” it further added.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s message highlighted Yaoshang, a five-day celebration starting from the full moon day of the lunar month of Lamta, signifying the onset of spring and the dawn of new beginnings.
The message underscored that the festival serves as a catalyst for social cohesion among people from diverse social, economic, and religious backgrounds. Sports and indigenous events witnessed during the five-day festival have a profound impact on fostering social bonds.
The state is gradually returning to normalcy after a challenging period that tested peaceful coexistence and disrupted economic and developmental activities.
“Let this festival, ushering in spring, guide the state towards peace and development. May it foster emotional solidarity among our diverse communities,” the message concluded.
