Governor Anusuiya Uikey of Manipur, on a Friday, unveiled the ‘State Focus Paper 2024-25’, prepared by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
The document delineates a total credit potential of Rs 2963.17 crore for Priority Sector activities in Manipur, as stipulated by the Reserve Bank of India, according to an official statement.
During the State Credit Seminar of 2024, hosted at the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan, she remarked that the Potential Link Credit Plan, curated by NABARD, has been disseminated by amalgamating district-wise credit schemes into the ‘State Focus Paper’ for the fiscal year 2024-25.
She emphasized that the state’s economic progression will hinge on this blueprint. Every banker and government official is expected to make significant contributions towards achieving this objective. It is hoped that all stakeholders will collaborate effectively in fulfilling their respective responsibilities with integrity, empathy, and efficiency within the specified timeframe, as highlighted in the statement.
Continuing, she stressed that to uplift the socio-economic status of Manipur’s villagers, augmenting their income levels and enhancing their quality of life, it is imperative to meet NABARD’s targets for rural infrastructure development in the state. Such endeavors necessitate unwavering cooperation from the Bank’s officials.
The document further underscores that to ensure the prosperity of rural areas, including agriculture, cottage and village industries, handicrafts, rural crafts, MSMEs, and other economic activities, it is vital to provide credit facilities, access to markets, and fair pricing mechanisms to foster and bolster sectoral growth and development. NABARD’s State Focus Paper 2024-25 appraises the potential loan availability at Rs 2,963.17 crore.
Of this total, Rs 1,422.88 crore, comprising 48 percent, is earmarked for agricultural activities, it is further detailed. Meanwhile, Rs 1,136.22 crore, representing 38 percent, is allocated for MSMEs, with the remaining 14 percent, amounting to Rs 404.07 crore, designated for other priority sectors, she added.
She expressed confidence that all stakeholders will work collaboratively to achieve the target and contribute to the state’s development, as mentioned. Senior representatives from RBI, SBI, PNB, Manipur Rural Bank, and others attended the seminar, which was organized by NABARD, Manipur Regional Office, Imphal, it was further noted.
