In an admirable demonstration of unity and compassion, the Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) organized the allocation of financial support through its self-established ‘Home Guard Welfare Scheme.’
The event, hosted at the MSFDS auditorium in Imphal East, was a significant occasion as Rs 1 lakh each was granted to 44 retired Home Guard personnel. Furthermore, the families of three deceased Home Guard personnel were also beneficiaries of this generous gesture.
Launched in March 2022, the scheme gained momentum with 552 members contributing Rs 500 monthly from their salaries. Subsequently, an additional 918 members joined the initiative, expanding its reach and impact.
Administered by the Punjab National Bank, this initiative reflects the collective ethos and commitment of the Home Guard community towards assisting its members in times of need.
Addressing the distribution event, MHGEWA President Y Mangi emphasized the challenges faced by Home Guard personnel after retirement, noting their lack of retirement benefits compared to other government employees.
To ensure the welfare of Home Guard personnel, he affirmed that the association has been actively involved for decades in addressing all the difficulties and burdens faced by them.
The program also saw the participation of PNB’s Senior Manager Ksh Dinesh, MHGEWA Vice-Presidents P Chandrakumar and S Prabhabati Devi, along with battalion commanders of Home Guards as presidium members.
